Miss Lowther – Selside School Head Teacher & The Explorers Teacher (Years 2 & 3)

What I love about teaching is the noise, mess, laughter and excitement of the classroom. Seeing the children excited by a new topic. Listening to their curious questions. Watching friendships and confidence blossom, and helping children to get those ‘crack it’ moments!
I enjoy teaching outside and observing and enjoying the changes of each seasons, going on exciting school trips to bring the ‘real world’ in the class room, as well as enjoying a good picture book!

Ms O’Callaghan – The Discoverers Teacher (Years 4, 5 & 6)

I believe that a classroom should be a safe, caring community, where children are free to speak their mind to blossom and flourish. I love hands-on learning, investigations and projects, both inside and outside the classroom. We are so lucky at Selside to have a beautiful, stimulating outdoor environment where children can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially.

Mr Robbie Swift – Teaching Assistant
Mrs Smith – The Adventurers Teacher (Nursery, Reception & Year 1)

I love supporting children as they begin their learning journey, helping them grow in confidence, curiosity and independence. Our wonderful rural setting provides endless opportunities to learn outdoors, explore, and have fun together. The Adventurers classroom is a warm, inclusive and nurturing environment where every child feels valued.

Mrs Clare Thomas – The Adventurers Teaching Assistant

Being born and raised on a farm just outside (Hawkshead/ Ambleside) . I have always had a passion for the outdoors. As a keen runner it takes me all over the Lake District and beyond. I have completed half marathons, marathons and even an Ultra marathon.

When not running I spend time walking in the fells with my husband and son. I guess you could say we are definitely an outdoor family!.

Mrs Stevens – After School Club Leader & Midday Supervisor

I love my days caring for the children at Selside school. Each day is different from the next, and I feel very privileged to work and live in such a beautiful place. My own children attended the school which holds many happy memories for them and us as a family.

When I’m not at work you may see me running on the fells.

Mrs Leeming – Midday Supervisor

I thoroughly enjoying working Lunchtimes at Selside School. The staff are very friendly and the children are all so well mannered and behaved. My daughter comes to the school and is thriving in the setting.

Mrs Ridding – Cleaning & Midday Supervisor

I am a farmer’s wife from Selside. I have been part of the team at Selside School for many years. It’s always a pleasure to see the children and to be a part of this caring community.

Mrs Naomi Duncan – Business Manager

I joined the school as Business Manager in November 2025 and have been delighted to become part of such a welcoming and supportive community. It’s a real pleasure to work alongside such a dedicated team and to play a role in supporting the school’s continued success. Outside of work, I love spending time outdoors, especially walking with my husband and daughter, usually accompanied by our lively flat coated retriever. I’m really looking forward to getting to know the children, families and staff who make this such a special place to be.
