Miss Lowther – Selside School Head Teacher & The Explorers Teacher (Years 2 & 3)

What I love about teaching is the noise, mess, laughter and excitement of the classroom. Seeing the children excited by a new topic. Listening to their curious questions. Watching friendships and confidence blossom, and helping children to get those ‘crack it’ moments!
I enjoy teaching outside and observing and enjoying the changes of each seasons, going on exciting school trips to bring the ‘real world’ in the class room, as well as enjoying a good picture book!

Mrs Corbett – The Adventurers Teacher (Nursery, Reception & Year 1)

I love to see children excited about their learning and striving to achieve their best. Selside School is an inspiring setting and welcoming community where every child is celebrated as an individual. Children are motivated by learning that is active, vibrant and fun, so will always remember this special place.

Miss Plant – The Discoverers Teacher (Years 4, 5 & 6)

As a small school, in a stunning rural location, Selside is a special place to teach and learn. I love that we can be spontaneous and organise exciting opportunities to take our learning outside the classroom. When you work in a school, no two days are ever the same and the children never cease to amaze me with their creativity and curiosity.

Miss Clarke – The Explorers Teacher (Years 2 & 3)

Selside Primary School reminds me a lot of the primary school I went to as a child. It is rural, unique and a great place to learn a variety of different things! I love to see the children having fun and exploring outdoors. There’s nothing better than seeing the children feel proud for accomplishing something they thought they couldn’t do.

Miss Lace – The Adventurers Senior Teaching Assistant (Nursery, Reception & Year 1)

I love when I’m part of a child’s learning and watching them grow from the opportunities they are given. I enjoy watching those moments when children achieve and seeing that ‘light up moment’ of how proud they are of themselves. I also like sharing a picture book or story with the children and watching their faces.

Mrs Mackenzie – School Business Manager

Our small rural school and community are like an extended family and my work here brings something new every day. Even though I am office based I still get to go out at lunchtime sometimes and see the children having fun in our extensive school grounds with magnificent views. It truly is a pleasure to come to work and I feel privileged to be a part of the school.

Mrs Stevens – After School Club Leader & Midday Supervisor

I love my days caring for the children at Selside school. Each day is different from the next, and I feel very privileged to work and live in such a beautiful place. My own children attended the school which holds many happy memories for them and us as a family.

When I’m not at work you may see me running on the fells.

Mrs Leeming – Midday Supervisor

I thoroughly enjoying working Lunchtimes at Selside School. The staff are very friendly and the children are all so well mannered and behaved. My daughter comes to the school and is thriving in the setting.

Mrs Ridding – Cleaning Supervisor

I am a farmer’s wife from Selside. I have been part of the team at Selside School for many years. It’s always a pleasure to see the children and to be a part of this caring community.
