Headteacher Welcome

Welcome to Lindale Church of England Primary School. Thank you for visiting our website.

Our aim is to provide the best possible primary education in a stimulating and creative environment. We want to develop a passion for learning, inspired by high quality teaching and developing and building upon individual strengths and talents. We expect all children in our school to make good progress and achieve at least age related expectations. We aim to ensure that any barriers to learning are removed so that every pupil reaches their full potential.

Our Christian values form the basis of a very caring community. Children and adults care for each other and all staff work hard to achieve an inclusive and nurturing environment. Parents and visitors often comment on how well the older children look after the younger ones.

We have strong community links with our local church and village. Set in beautiful grounds and overlooking the Kent estuary and hills beyond, we take every opportunity that we can to develop outdoor learning experiences including Forest Schools activities. We try to give our children as many exciting and relevant experiences as we can, through visitors to school, trips out and exciting residentials.  One of the advantages of being a small school with small classes is that we are able to be responsive to opportunities that are offered. We believe that this is why we are often complimented on how confident and well behaved our children are when we are out of school.

We also put a big emphasis on sports and PE, ensuring that all of our children have 2 hours of PE each week with a dedicated PE teacher and offer a range of extra- curricular PE activities. The children have opportunities to take part in local sports events and competitions throughout the year. All children learn to swim from year 3 and continue until they are competent swimmers with a personal survival award.

We are continually striving to improve and offer the best opportunities to our children. We have been designated a lead school for Computer Science. This means that we are able to offer children exciting opportunities to explore computer programming in advance of the new computing curriculum.

We also have a specialist teacher of French. Madame Cook teaches all Years 3-6 each week using a programme that emphasises spoken language.

Science is another strength of our school. We have strong links with the Castle Head Field Centre in our village. We also have links with the Science department at Cartmel Priory School and Mr Russell comes to teach Years 5 and 6 once each half-term.

We are currently working towards our Arts Mark Gold award. Over the past year our children have performed in the Ulverston Dance platform and sung at the Manchester arena with Young Voices.  We are delighted to offer instrumental tuition, Creative Arts experiences and enriching extra-curricular activities.

I hope that this has given you a taste of our school. However, the best way to learn about us is to come and visit to see our school in action. I would be very happy to show you around and let you meet our hard working staff and fantastic pupils.
